Day 1 – Arrive Bagdogra or NJP-Darjeeling airport

After meeting your car and driver, transfer to Darjeeling and then simply relax!  The air here (at 7,100 feet) is quite thin and temperatures can be surprisingly low , so don’t exert yourself too much.  Perhaps a stroll through the town’s shops…

Day 2 – Darjeeling

A very early start today (4am approx) – well worth the effort to see sunrise over Tiger Hill (see picture above!) before brief visits to Batasia point amd Ghoom Monastery.  After breakfast, some time at lesiure before a tour of Darjeeling to include the high-altitude zoo, a refugee centre and, of course, a tea garden and factory…

Day 3 – Pelling

A drive today to the pretty town of Pelling (with a visit to a different tea garden en-route).  Boasting quite staggering views of the Himalayas (particularly Kanghenjunga – the third highest mountain in the world) and some amazing waterfalls, this really is an outdoor paradise.

Day 4 -Gangtok

Today, drive to Gangtok (the area’s capital).  En-route visits to the Pemayangtse monastery (an 18th century Buddhist temple of simple beauty) and Lake Khecheopalri which is sacred to both Buddhists and Hindus as a ‘wishing lake’…

Day 5 – Tsongmo Lake

A full day excursion to Tsongmo Lake.  Lying an amazing 12,400ft above sea-level you’ll be only 5km from China as you play in the snow (really – in India!).  Perhaps take a yak  or mule ride, or a slightly more sedate stroll to appreciate the sheer beuaty of this sacred lake…

Day 6 – Departure

Too soon it’s time to transfer back to the airport for your homeward / onward flight.  We’d recommend adding Kerala to this trip!
