Day 1 -Jaipur

Arrive in Jaipur – Land of Kings!

Depending on your arrival time, a guided afternoon tour can be arranged or you may prefer to simply explore at your leisure…

Overnight in Jaipur at your choice of accommodation.

Day 2 -Jaipur

A full day exploring the famed ‘Pink City’, the capital of Rajasthan.  From the elegance of the City Palace (including 4 fascinating musuems) to the rugged beauty of the Naharghar Fort, the opulence of the Amber Fort to the solemn beauty of the Jal Mahal, Jaipur is a truly beautiful and striking city.

Day 3 -Bikaner

Travel to Bikaner and experience some of the fascinating sights this unique city has to offer.  From camel treks over the imposing sand dunes to the Karni Mata where rats are worshipped (not for the faint-hearted!), the Junaghar Fort to the Lalgahr Palace – you really will be amazed!

Day 4 -Jaisalmer

Drive today to Jaisalmer (pronounced Jy-sal-Meer).  Keep your camera handy as the beauty of Rajasthan and indeed India passes your window… Arrive early afternoon and visit 3 Jain temples interconnected by 5 palaces built in the 12th and 13th centuries.

Day 5 – Sam Dunes

A real experience, today we travel to the desert, just 30 miles from Jaisalmer.  A camel trek is a must – or 4×4 if you prefer!  As the official website descibes it (and we don’t disagree) – ‘what to see? Sand, sand and only sand’

Day 6 – Jodphur

Today travel to ‘The Sun City’ named after its almost perfect weather or ‘The Blue City’ describing the buildings painted vivid blue. In the middle of the Thar Desert, the second biggest city in Rajastan is an eclectic mix of the old (the stunning Mehranghar Fort from the 15th century) and the more recent (the 20th century clock tower for example).  A guided tour or at leisure (with your car and driver of course) as you prefer…

Day 7 – Udaipur

A complete change now as we travel to Udaipur, built on Lake Pichola (take an evening boat trip to see the city at its best!) and known as the ‘City of Lakes’.  En-route we’ll visit Ranakpur – a village with a  marble Jain temple over 500 years old, held up by 1444 columns.  Arriving mid-afternoon, you’re free to wander and explore…

Day 8 -Udaipur

A full day exploring Udaipur.  The City Palace complex, the Queen’s resort (Sahelion Ki Bari) and the folk art museum will stay in your memory!  Time for a little shopping or wandering in the late afternoon sun…

Day 9 – Departure

All to soon, it’s time to transfer back to the airport for your homeward flight.  Your private car and driver will be ready at whatever time you need…
